ABOUT ME

Kristin Eliasberg, LCSW

I came to therapy through a life fully lived.

Before becoming a clinical social worker, I spent years as a professional dancer, a journalist, a director of not-for-profit literacy and arts programs, and a teacher/parent coach for RIE. I’ve also pursued legal studies at Yale Law School and worked extensively in child development. These experiences didn’t just shape who I am; they fundamentally inform how I work with clients. I understand reinvention, pressure, creative identity, family complexity, and the courage it takes to change course.

I am an EMDR-certified psychotherapist (LCSW) licensed in New York State. I hold a Masters degree in Social Work from NYU Silver School of Social Work, a Master of Studies in Law degree from Yale Law School, and a BA from Cornell University. I work with individuals, couples, and families of all ages, sexual orientations, and gender identities. I see clients in person in Brooklyn Heights and virtually anywhere in New York State.

I have particular expertise working with parents, families, partners, and caregivers of transgender, nonbinary, and queer youth and young adults who otherwise don’t conform to gender norms. I have also worked extensively helping couples explore and resolve the challenges that can arise in relationships where one or both partners are neurodivergent. I offer knowledgeable, affirming support for these communities.

In addition to performing as a dancer I enjoy studying acting and have performed in theater and film. I live in Brooklyn with my son and our dog.
